William Alder Productions Ltd. Present

About Us

We’re London’s first Live Events Advent Calendar. We’re creating 24 exciting free events in 24 unexpected places, from 1st - 24th December!

Each festive day, a different door will open unveiling a unique experience. Scattered across bustling Wimbledon, audiences will be invited to experience a whole new world. Perhaps they will lose themselves in a magical forest in an unexpected place, become part of an interactive show, race against time to help Father Christmas, or simply relax and let a live jazz band provide the soundtrack to their night. Each day a door will open; at 4pm for a family event, or 7pm for an older audience. There really is something for everyone!

And it’s free to attend on a first come, first served basis! Does it get much better than that at Christmas time?!

Meet the Team

We were born in Wimbledon! Just like the festival itself, our team is predominantly made up of Wimbledon residents who were born and brought up in the local area! Here are just a few of our core team…

Will Alder - Artistic Director & Executive Producer

Will is hugely passionate about bringing free top notch art to the town that he was born and brought up in. He studied Drama and Theatre Studies at Aberystwyth University before going on to work for establishments such as Oxford Playhouse, National Youth Theatre, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and in the West End. He has worked extensively abroad including Saudi Arabia and Ireland, and been a key part of many shows in non-theatrical spaces such as Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit company where the 2015 heist took place, and in and for Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf.

Will is also a Technical Designer and musician. His Sound and Lighting designs have been seen on the stages of Shaftesbury Theatre, Barbican Concert Hall, Wexford Festival Opera, Greenwich Theatre, and Salisbury Playhouse. He also loves photography, swimming, and long country walks by the sea (preferably with a pub lunch and an open fire!)

Matthew Seager - Creative Producer

Matthew is delighted to be working with Bobblehat as Creative Producer. He is an actor, writer and producer, born and bred in Wimbledon, and the prospect of bringing art of such high quality to anyone and everyone in his home town in hugely exciting.

Matthew's recent acting credits have seen him tour the UK and Asia with award winning Shakespeare company the HandleBards (Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream), and Scotland with Blood of the Young, the company in residence at The National Theatre of Scotland. He also wrote and starred in his critically acclaimed production In Other Words at The Hope Theatre in Islington.

Matthew is a huge fan of, amongst other things, football and dogs!

Sam Griffiths - General Manager

Sam is a Programmer, Producer and General Manager who works in the West End as a Regional Programmer for the Ambassador Theatre Group. He graduated from Aberystwyth University with a BSc (Econ) in International Politics and Intelligence Studies, and caught his bug for Producing and General Managing whilst studying there. He then went on to do an MA in Stage and Event Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Alongside multiple other professional projects, Sam was Associate Producer for the 2017 UK Tour of the Wedding Singer, a comedy musical adaptation of the hit Adam Sandler Film starring Ray Quinn, Ruth Madoc, Jon Robyns and Cassie Compton.

Sam hugely enjoys eating healthy salads and going on holiday!

Natalie Redman - Marketing & Social Media Manager

Natalie works for the Society of London Theatre and runs a successful blog online: Up Your Vlog. She also writes for The Student Pocket and London Perfect. Natalie studied Drama and Theatre Studies at Aberystwyth University where she was a huge part of many productions on the stages of Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Arad Goch, before moving down to London, and has been living in the big city for almost four years.

Natalie also loves reading and singing in the shower!

Here’s a handy list of other festivals you might just be interested in checking out:

Hat Fair is the UK’s longest running festival of outdoor arts. The festival takes place every year during the first weekend of July across the historic city of Winchester. There’s something for everyone to enjoy at each year’s festival, and best of all, it’s absolutely FREE! Bobblehat was inspired by Winchester’s 2015 Woolly Hat Fair.

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) is London’s leading festival of free outdoor performing arts (theatre, dance, and street arts), an annual celebration of extraordinary outdoor events that transform people’s lives.

Wimbledon Bookfest was founded in 2006 by Fiona Razvi and Tony Kane whose ambition was to develop arts and cultural offering in the area. The public festival takes place in early October in a ‘pop up’ festival side on Wimbledon Common.

Here’s a handy list of other local professional companies are really worth checking out:

Baseless Fabric Theatre creates site-specific and promenade theatre & opera to inspire audiences to see the art forms and the world around them in new ways. We want to tell stories that inspire people to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, to question the world around us or to see something in a new way.

Mingled Yarn’s work as taken place all over the country in a range of theatres, workshops and site-specific locations. Working mostly with small, young casts we aim to create theatre that captures the thrill of being told a tale.

Bobblehat is not officially linked to any of the above festivals or companies, but highly endorses the brilliant work that they do.
